Relationship with Bahrain Government
New Century Media is a British public relations company. In August 2011, it was contracted by the Bahrain government-owned Bahrain International Circuit (where Bahrain's Formula One Grand Prix race takes place) for a fee of £20,000 (approx $31,600) per month, according to information posted on the government's Tender Board website.
It is not clear whether New Century Media is still working for the BIC, but it is possible that the contract may have been passed on to another British PR firm Dragon Associates. The current Managing Director of Dragon Associates, Charlie Methven, was until June 2011 Managing Director of New Century Media. Dragon Associates has been representing the BIC since at least February 2012 when it forced the Guardian to take down an opinion piece about abuses that allegedly took place on the premises of the BIC.
Fees and Expenses
£20,000 (US$ 31,600) per month for 5 months, for a total of $158,000.
